British Polo Day

Vibrant story telling about British Luxury travelling the world through polo

This unique and special institution is an invitation-only global platform to build relationships with some of the world’s most dynamic and interesting individuals, through money-can’t-buy experiences hosted in iconic destinations including Henley, St Tropez, Dubai & Abu Dhabi, New York, Jaipur and Jodhpur, Nihi Sumba, Mexico, and China. British Polo Day has hosted members of 12 royal families, and 100 independent billionaires and leaders in world innovation including Sir Richard Branson and Elon Musk.

Mercury was appointed in 2017 to support with not only brand awareness and sponsor exposure, but also with identifying and securing new partners. Key sponsorship partners include brands such as Chelsea Barracks, Royal Salute, VistaJet, Burgess Yachts, Harrods and Nyetimber. Profiling was focused on founder Tom Hudson and CEO Ben Vestey, along with significant players such as the no.1 male player in the world Adolfo Cambiaso, and no.1 female Nina Clarkin.

An important role is liaising with British Polo Day’s chosen charities such as The Royal Foundation and Sentebale, due to Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex playing on occasion with British Polo Day, and to date BPD has raised USD$2.2m. Mercury has also supported with tool kits and press materials for their Asian and Indian PR agencies.

Mercury Director and Founder of Mercury Yachts, Julian Krickl, successfully secured the use of EUR 72m superyacht Axioma for a BPD event in Monaco, after their St Tropez gathering in 2017.

“PR is all about the people and their reach of relationships. Laura Westmacott and her team have proved invaluable for British Polo Day in recent years. This has involved both a canny and creative approach to securing press mileage, especially when it comes to interesting and imaginative editorial across effectively all the main regions worldwide. It must be added that BPD’s global platform is predominantly quietly private in nature, so Mercury PR have been presented with something of an impossible brief and they have consistently delivered to task accordingly. It has been a great pleasure growing in tandem with Laura and Mercury PR.”
